Really, Sun News? Really? You're going there?

This is a screen capture I took of an ad at the bottom of the page on the Ottawa Sun newspaper website containing a story about new smoke-free public housing being built in Ottawa:

A close-up:

Ah, Sun News Network  -- "Canada's new home for Hard News and Straight Talk" -- the official news website of grumpy old men (who may or may not live in Alberta).

Way to pitch to your demographic, guys.

    Beyond pathetic.

  2. I had to read it twice to really believe that it said what it did.

  3. Careful, now. Alberta just voted in a Liberal government. :-)

  4. However, I think the people that came up with that and approved it should be pretty embarrassed.

  5. Jo - Alison Redford is a PC, isn't she? She took over from Ed Stelmach? But I agree. I wonder who thought that ad was a suitable one.

You are right, Alison, Redford is a PC, but she's far more left leaning than the 'typical' PC in Alberta. More of a Red Tory type. But I'm surprised that even the Sun did that type of ad. Well, not really, but still... Wow.

  7. Wow. Just wow.

  8. Sheesh, I'm losing it. I guess she is a PC. I think I heard and read so many comments about her Liberal leanings I started to think of her as one.

  9. And then there's Naheed Nenshi. Alberta's becoming quite Liberal. :-)
I occasionally watch the Sun News network, but not for any length of time. Too depressing. It's unfortunate that their approach is so 'in your face' and simplistic, because Canada could use a rational discussion of some of the topics they cover.
I can't watch CNN or Fox either.

  10. Jo - Yeah, I usually watch CTV news. Sun News is unwatchable and sometimes the CBC (TV news) is just too sanctimonious for me.

  11. I guess it’s the Fox News of Canada...
