For XUP and Loth

Even lower primates, such as Ring-tailed Lemurs, know that toast should be buttered and eaten while hot.

(Click to enlarge. Do it. They're really cute.)

And so, to recap:

Acceptable toast-buttering:

Unacceptable toast-buttering.

Any further questions?

  1. Is it also considered preferable to eat your toast whilst sitting on the counter? And holding your spare slice between your legs? Because I think I could kinda get into that.

  2. Loth - storing your spare slice in such a manner would definitely lead to some butter melting.

  3. You had lemers in the kitchen! Wow.

And, I have another butter toast question. Salted or unsalted? What about Garlic butter in a pinch? (That one goes back to some family lore. Apparently it doesn't go over well at the breakfast table.)

  4. Mimi - That isn't my kitchen, lol. The lemurs belong to a friend of a friend and they have wee baby lemurs which are just too cute for words.

I prefer salted butter to unsalted, and as for garlic butter, I think that might be yummy.

  5. y'know, this whole toast thing has led me to overthinking the issue, thus taking away the simple pleasure I used to get from eating my (cold) toast with chunks of butter on it.

  7. Meanie - don't let the hot toast brigade put you off your normal toast. Just think what would happen to THEM if we were ever stranded on Survivor or something -- they'd cave so fast because they need all their food hot with melted butter; whereas we normal people would be able to live off any hard crunchy things we find.

  8. They are cute. I do however prefer warm peanut butter toast.

  9. Hilarious! I'm totally joining that society. Cold toast = not right.

  10. Oh I so have to way in the warm toast versus the cold toast debate. I say cold, hardened toast with peanut butter j-u-s-t scraped across. With a warm mug of coffee and real cream. Oh yah.

  13. Sorry daughter mine, but I still prefer very crisp cold toast with lashings of butter [salted]
